Williams Sonoma Spotlights Hawaii Flavors Though Chef Ed Kenney

Upscale kitchen retailer Williams Sonoma is spotlighting Hawaii cuisine through chef Ed Kenney, and his newest restaurant venture in Honolulu, Mahina and Sun’s.

An email campaign sent Friday to the retailer’s customer mailing list features Kenney, who is also featured on the Williams Sonoma (NYSE: WSM) website, alongside recipes from Kenney’s Waikiki restaurant.

The feature, “A Mahalo Meal in Hawaii,” includes a video of Kenney chatting about family-style meals and what that means in Hawaii, an article about the story of Mahina and Sun’s, located in the Surfjack Hotel & Swim Club, and Kenney’s take on local flavor.

This isn’t the first time Kenney has received national media attention. He was chosen last year to take Vogue magazine writers on a culinary tour of Oahu, a similar concept in the Williams Sonoma articles, which were posted in April. Kenney is also the star of the PBS television program “Family Ingredients,” which was nominated for a Daytime Emmy earlier this year.
