New Pizza-and-Wine Concept at Waikiki Hotel Planned by Japan Restaurant Owner

The Japan-based restaurant company that owns the Tony Roma and Taormina restaurants in Hawaii is opening a new concept this fall in Outrigger Hotels’ Ohana Waikiki East hotel.

The Appetito Craft Pizza & Wine Bar is currently being built out in the former Keoni’s by Keo restaurant space on the ground floor of the hotel, at the corner of Kuhio and Kaiulani avenues.

Shige Kikuchi, district manager of Hawaii WDI International, said the company is working to open the restaurant “sometime this fall, hopefully by the of October.”

The management team from the company’s Taormina Sicilian Cuisine restaurant at Waikiki Beach Walk on Lewers Street will “double up and launch the new restaurant,” he said.

The menu will feature craft pizza, and wine and will “also have an extensive pupu menu so people can enjoy our great pupus with a refreshing wine,” Kikuchi said. “Hopefully we can expand this concept if there are more opportunities.”
