The restaurant opened with Liberty House in September 1999 as the famed local chef’s first expansion project.
According to a statement by President and Owner Alan Wong, the decision to close was amicable and was a result of the changing dining landscape in Honolulu.
“Our time has come to say aloha,” Wong said in a statement. “Over the last 18 years, we have made many memories and friends at The Pineapple Room. We would like to say mahalo for everyone’s support and patronage over all these years.”
Pineapple Room employees will have an opportunity to apply for work at the flagship restaurant, Alan Wong’s Honolulu on South King Street.
“Our priority now is to maintain operations for our loyal customers and take care of the current staff through the end of July,” Wong said.
